As you can see, I've created a new poll to determine the best rock band of all time. Before anyone starts saying shit like "You forgot Journey" or some bullshit like that, just enter the name of the sorry ass band you think should have made my list and I'll have a "best of the rest" poll next week. I'll then put the winner of that poll head-to-head against the winner of this poll. I wonder who'll win. Probably not Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Update:
I've added the first 10 bands of the best metal bands of all time. I will add another 10 bands next week.

I might have picked AC/DC, but I picked Led Zeppelin anyways.
I completely agree with you BND, nobody bitch and moan about how your favorite band got left off, just pick your favorite from the list. For everybody to get their favorite band up there the poll would probably have to be at least 75 pages long.
That's what the comment section is for.
After I created the Poll, I thought of a few bands that should be on the list.
AC/DC
Rush
Queen
The Who
Cream
There are many other bands you could probably make a case for, but your Molly Hatchet wouldn't have won anyway so STFU!
does this include metal?
if so slayer
if not
smashing pumpkins
heres my list of rock/punk bands
smashing pumpkins
dead kennadys
the clash
nirvana
led zeppelin
the ramones
rush
ac/dc
rage against the machine
blue cheer
No Mr. Bundy. This is just good old Rock N Roll.
I was planning on getting a metal poll going below this poll. All of the metal bands will most likely be from the 80's because I'm damn near 40 & that's the shit I listen to. Slayer will top that list, though.
Great list of punk bands! Maybe I'll start a third poll for nothing but punk bands.
i can show you some good 90s metal bands
mastronaut,
to each his own.
on the metal poll i voted for slayer.
"i got a question about the metal poll. why is black sabbath not in there?"
Because they are on the Rock Poll.
I also voted for Slayer. Next week's poll will include Pantera, so no one get bent out of shape about that
yeah i just realized that. thats why i deleted my comment. i voted for dead kennadys. umm for the next polls i got a few suggestions. i know they are on the rock poll but they invented metal and it would seem right. so for the next metal poll heres my suggestions, black sabbath, fear factory, king diamond, cannibal corpse, pantera, morbid angel, bathory, mayhem, darkthrone, meshuggah etc. just a thought.
anyway you have good poll line up there.
I tried ti include most of the heavyweights ff all three categories. Next week, I'll select some less popular or more obscure bands. I also need to create a category for 90's rock like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, STP, and shit like that. Maybe an Alt/Grunge categorey or something like that.
can you add hallows eve to the next metal poll?
some other candidates
exodus
heathen
agent steel
helstar
Yes, Exodus will most certainly be on the next list. Bonded by Blood is one of those albums that defined the rst of the thrash movement.
Helstar is a pretty good band, as well. I remember seeing those dudes at the Backroom in Austin back in thelate eighties during SXSW. Hung out with them and partied 'till the wee hours of the morning. Cool dudes!
as for that rock band list, I can't vote for any of them. I'm tossing in a write-in vote for Rush.
blsabob, you truly have issues!
Rush is OK, but they are no one compared to The Beatles, The Stones, Zeppelin, Sabbath, etc...
its all a matter of opinion. Personally, I think the Stones are the most over-rated band of all time. But, to each their own.
How bout a special poll of just progressive bands?
...and read the second comment in the thread, then go throw eggs at bunnies, you freak!
Just kidding! Rush probably should be on the list, but it's my personal opinion that matters.
Dude...
No CLASH on the punk list?
For shame!!!
I'm going to have to do a round 2 in the punk category as well. The Clash should be included. I'll probably add the New York Dolls, Blondie, and the MC5. I may add some newer so called punk bands as well just to see them get trashed.
I really really dig the hell out of some Rush.
I've got my Sirius set to alert me when they play Rush on any of the channels on Sirius. Since there's at least 4 or 5 stations that play 'em, my radio beeps at me all the time.
Check out the R30 DVD if you don't "get it" yet. Rush is simply an incredible group of musicians. They are clearly the finest export of Canada besides Crown Royal.
mmmmm Crown Royal mmmmmm
Hey Axe, what is this I keep hearing about new a immigration bill in Georgia that is one of the toughest in the country? I'm very interested in hearing the details regarding this new bill.
The immigration bill that everybody was protesting has two different forms. The biggest reason why people hate it so much is because the House version calls for an additional 5% tax to be taken by the State for all money wired out of the country.
I am most opposed to such taxes, as this money has ALREADY BEEN TAXED, and the 5% is just a way of the government showing arrogance towards an entire group of human beings. Legal or illegal, if you earned a dollar that is your dollar. I'm sick to death of taxes. Most Georgia voters will certainly not oppose that tax like I will, because they don't understand that lawmakers are using the power of the majority to abuse the minority, and the same can and would happen to them if the opportunity presented itself. Let's see, this is EXACTLY the reason why the Southern States seceeded from Lincoln's bullshit in the 1860's. The government cannot abuse the rights of the minority. I thought we learned that last century, but here it is again.
Besides the 5% tax, the bill seems like good law. It ensures that all government contractors are staffed by a legal workforce, which is perfectly legitimate in my opinion.
The right wing spin machines (which I'll distance myself from gladly in this instance) are trying to present the 5% tax issue as if that 5% was the only tax that would be taken against that money. The problem is that most illegal workers do pay income tax, because their employers have to. They also don't get any of their witholdings back, because you can't file if you're illegal. Therefore, the government gets far more than their share of worker's checks.
Yes, we need immigration law that makes sense, but why even bother if we can't enforce the laws we have now? If our retarded laws are abused, even our good ones will be abused if we don't prove that we can enforce them.
The Fair Tax makes immigration much more simple, because the government cannot lose internal revenue from illegals working and not paying taxes. If they live in the US, they will consume retail goods, and therefore they will pay into the Medicare systems that they will use. The Fair Tax rewards legal immigration, because only legal immigrants can receive the prebate (the built-in function of the Fair Tax that basically pre-imburses you for any taxes that you would have to pay on poverty-level spending). Therefore, illegal immigrants would pay the full fury of the tax burden without the progressive scaling that US citizens and legal immigrant workers benefit from.
INXS, was a great band.
Cool I'm with you on that one. That is also a very good arguement for the Fair Tax Act. What I think would end up happening is that they will wire the money to a relative in another state who will then forward to Mexico. Hey, I can start a business. I'll only charge 3% to wire their money to mexico.
Ranando, INXS was alright for what they did. I may need to start another category that includes more rock bands from the eighties. I'm not a big fan of U2, but they are one of the more influental bands out there. Maybe even The Cult and even Guns n Roses could be in this category.
Hey Axe, I'm hearing tha one of those bills was signed into law by your Governor today.
Metallica, regardless of their recent efforts. No metal or rock band will ever reach their height.
