Yet Another Grand Old Pedophile

this month just keeps getting better and better!!

Another Repig is being accused of being a creepy old fuck with young boys. What the hell is wrong with these guys?

Money quotes:
Federal prosecutors in Arizona have opened a preliminary investigation of a camping trip Congressman Jim Kolbe, R-Ariz., took 10 years ago that included two teenage congressional pages...

One participant, who requested anonymity, said he was uncomfortable with the attention Kolbe paid to one of the former pages. He was "creeped out by it," he said, adding that there was a lot of "fawning, petting and touching" on the teenager's arms, shoulders and back by Kolbe.

Big Fun

UPDATE:

...and the hits just keep on coming!!!!!!

Randal D. "Randy" Ankeney, the convicted sex offender who just a few short years ago was a rising GOP star in Colorado, is being held on a $1 million bond in Larimer County.

Ankeney, 35, who was arrested Wednesday, is facing five counts of sexual assault on a child, three counts of sexual enticement of a child and one count of sexual exploitation of a child. The felonies, if he is convicted, could send him to prison for life.

The charges come less than 15 months after the former attorney, head of Gov. Bill Owens’ economic development office in Colorado Springs and graduate of the Republican Leadership Program, was released from prison after serving a two-year sentence for attempted sexual assault on a child.

At the time of his first arrest, in 2001, Ankeney was serving as the El Paso County co-chairman of Owens’ reelection campaign and was being groomed for a seat in the state legislature. And he went to the Republican Leadership Program, which is the GOPs version of summers at The Eagle’s Nest in Bavaria.

In the case, Ankeney, then 30, was accused of picking up a 13-year old girl up after he had met her on the Internet using the moniker “coloradofella.” The girl told police he took her to his home, in central Colorado Springs, got her drunk and stoned on marijuana, convinced her to take off her shirt and took photographs of her. When she passed out on the couch, she awoke to found Ankeney on top of her, kissing and fondling her. The girl told police that she feared Ankeney would rape her, but that he eventually let her up, apologized and told her that if she told anyone about the episode "he would ruin her life."

His boss Governor Bill Owens is quite conservative and I found a nice nugget doing a bit of research. He signed a law in Jan. of 2001 that provides: “Two strikes” for child molesters before a lifetime of prison. Oops. Talk about Foleying your own people.

Partisan politics is boring.

God saves a very special place in hell for child molesters.

Republicans are no better or worse.

You know this is a subject that hits me wrong. Pedophiles and child molesters piss me off more than anything. This is why I am honored to be involved in an organization such as Absolute Zero.

Partisan politics, for us democrats, are currently very interesting! but i know what you mean Axe. I was especially disgusted when the swiftboating of Kerry took place.

Repugs may be no better or no worse on many issues, but for some reason, the vast majority of politcal figures who are busted as pedophiles are republicans. Thats the fact. And I don't believe that it is mere coincidence that the party of moral religious chest thumping is also the party prone to pedophelia. There's a connection somewhere and I'd like to know what it is

If they had just embraced the "Foley is gay" thing, and just told people to get over the fact that he's gay, then this would have blown over quickly.

Repubs do have a tendency to be homophobic, which is like pouring gasoline on the fire.

Kerry and the swiftboat shit is just as annoying as this. People are talking about people, and not how to fix our problems.

BND, I know how you feel. You're probably at least 10x madder than I am, because you've got a kid of your own. I like that scene in the movie "Little Nicky", where Hitler gets a pineapple shoved up his ass every day at a scheduled time. I'd like to think the same place in hell is reserved for child molesters, and that NAMBLA gets a group rate discount.

but people ARE the problem. So talking about the people involved is highly relevant. Its not too difficult to come up with solutions to problems. Having the ethics and character to actually do what is good for the nation instead of what's good for lobbiest pockets and politician's power is the real trick. When you see rethug after rethugs being indicted, convicted or just investigated, its reminds us all they these scumbags don't have the ability to put the needs of the nation above their own greedy and perverted desires. I don't give a fuck if their "ideas" are better than the democrats'. The fact of the matter is that most the Bush administration and half the repigs in congress are criminal scum that should be tried, convicted and sitting in death row.

I think you're right about that. Republicans have lost my gun-toting, flag-waving, loud-mouthed vote for '08 because they have failed to act on almost any idea that caused me to vote for them in the first place.

Many Republicans act like they're FairTax supporters, yet even the Speaker of the House sits around and does nothing about it. If Pelosi and Reid didn't make a death threat to the other members of their caucus not to offer Democratic support for it, we'd probably be in the process of laying the IRS and their criminally belligerant terrorization of our economy to waste, right next to "Prohibition" as two of the greatest U.S. Government failures of the 20th century.

So, to refine my point, I agree with you, B.L. Sabob, about the guilty being made to pay- and pay dearly. I'm just hoping that this election doesn't come down to personal gossip instead of proven track records for representing their voters. It just makes me wonder how deep the rabbit hole really goes if we're just now finding out about this a month before elections.

Who knows what will magically surface in October of '08? Do we have to wait until just before an election to find out who's being a scumbag?

corporations time the release of information in order to minimize damage to themselves or to maximize positive news that will help their stock prices.
Why should politicians be any different? This is what we get for treating government as a dog-eat-dog, winner take all, competition, like the corporate world, as oppossed to treating it like an honored service to their fellow mankind.

America has the government and corporate structure it deserves. Time and time again, consumers and voters reward the most ruthless and the most machavellian at the polls and the cash register. And then they act indignant and surprised when those same sociopaths turn out to be thieves, murderers and predators.

Greedy, powermad sociopathy inhabits our boardrooms, city halls, statehouses and the Whitehouse. Its in all facets of society at all levels.

Its fun when the occasional machavellian assholes goes native, comes to the surface and pops like an infected boil. The problem is that most people look only at the boil and think the problem is gone once the boil is lanced and healed over. They don't want to think about the fact that the boil is in itself a symptom of a much greater illness that affects the entire being of our society.

That's a rather astute observation. I've only got a detail to discuss, and if I hadn't just finished reading his book I probably wouldn't have bothered:

The adjective "Machiavellian" is generally used to describe a dishonorable deed that brings about a greater good, but not to exclude simply a selfish personal gain.

Niccolo Machiavelli did clearly leave advice that shows that bad deeds must occasionally be performed to preserve the good of the state- but only for the good of the state. (Chapter 19 of "The Prince" is the most pointed rhetoric). Machiavelli was also very clear to distinguish that any ill means must be used to promote the greater good of the principality, and not just to preserve power for an innefective leader.

So, greedy corporate leaders or politicians that do ill deeds to make money or advance their own stature are not so much "Machiavellian" as they are selfish and conniving, simply because nowhere in their schemes is the greater good of the company or the country included.

That's interesting. I never heard Machiavelli described that way. Thanks
